Q & A

Consignor Q&A

WHY CONSIGN YOUR GOWN?

Don’t let your dress take up precious closet space, be green and make some green!

Please note, while we are not able to accept any additional consignments, there are some other great bridal consignment places around Massachusetts that may be able to assist you further in finding a new home for your item(s).

HOW DO I CONSIGN?

We are not accepting any additional consignments.

HOW LONG IS THE CONSIGNMENT PERIOD?

Our consignment period is for one-year, which can be canceled at any time buy the consignor or Clever Bride Consignments.

WHO SETS THE PRICES?

We want to make sure our prices are fair for our consignors and also our brides. Prices are set by Clever Bride Consignments with advisement from the consignor.  Our gowns are priced at least 50% off of retail prices.

ONCE THE GOWN SELLS, HOW MUCH DO I GET?

Consignors receive 50% of the selling price.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN MY ITEMS SELLS?

Consignors will be notified by phone that their item has sold and their check is available for pick up the month following the sale.

HOW DO I GET MY CHECK?

Consignors are welcome to stop in any time during our regular business hours to pick-up their check.

Checks in the amount of $100 and over can be mailed with certificate of Mailing for a $5 fee. The mailing fee will be deducted out of the consignors check. If you wish to have your check mailed please let us know at the time of consigning your items.

WHAT DO YOU ACCEPT ON CONSIGNMENT?

We accept designer overstock, new, and gently used designer wedding gowns (3 years old or newer) and accessories such as veils, hairpieces, tiaras, petticoats, and modern/vintage jewelry.

MY DRESS IS OLDER THAN 3 YEARS OLD. WILL YOU ACCEPT IT?

We are always happy to take a look at all gowns. Some styles are timeless but due to quickly changing bridal fashions, typically do not accept dresses older than 3 years old.

WHAT KIND OF CONDITION SHOULD THE GOWN BE IN?

  • Must be freshly cleaned since the wedding, no stains, rips, dirty hems, odors, or damage of any kind
  • On a hanger (and in garment bag if it came with one)
  • Gowns will be taken out of preservation boxes and wrapping for inspection

WHAT IF MY DRESS HAS NOT BEEN CLEANED SINCE THE WEDDING?

Not a problem! We are an elite dealer for the Wedding Gown Preservation Co.

First, let us see the gown in person. If it is accepted for consignment you have the option to have your gown cleaned through us. Cleaning is a $140 up-front fee upon consigning and includes shipping. Once cleaned, the gown will be delivered to Clever Bride Consignments and we will email you to let you know that we have received it and when it will be out on the showroom floor for sale.

WHAT IF MY ITEMS DON’T SELL?

If the items have not sold it is the consignor’s responsibility to call before to the end of the consignment period in order for us to pull it from the selling floor. Once pulled from the selling floor, consignors have three (3) days to pick up their unsold item.

Any unsold item(s) that have not been picked up by last day of the contract period, will automatically become the property of Clever Bride Consignments and are no longer available for pickup. These items may be donated to charity, liquidated, or continue to sell in the store. If you do not wish your items to become store property, it is your responsibility to call to pick up your item.

HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR GOWNS?

We understand that the items you consign are special and take every care possible to make sure they stay in the same condition as they came to us. Under our care we keep the gowns in protective clear garment bags, help our brides in and out of the gowns, and ask that they do not wear base make-up or lipstick when trying on the gowns. However, Clever Bride Consignments, along with anyone they work with are not responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.

CAN I MAIL THE GOWN TO YOU?

No. Unsolicited gowns are not accepted and will be returned to sender. We need to see the gowns in person with the consignor present.

I OWN A BRIDAL BOUTIQUE, DO YOU ONLY ACCEPT ONCE-WED GOWNS?
